We are pride northwest
Supporting the LGBTQ+ Community
Best known for the annual Portland Pride Festival and Parade-one of the largest Pride celebrations on the West Coast-Pride Northwest also works to celebrate and support the whole of the Pacific Northwest’s LGBTQ+ community year-round. Whether working with partners to improve the safety and livability of the LGBTQ+ community, supporting other community organizations like Q Center, Latinx Pride, Sankofa Collective Northwest, Trans Unity, API Pride, and the Imperial Sovereign Rose Court, or building community for and with incarcerated LGBTQ+ youth, or showcasing the artistic talents of LGBTQ+ people through the Portland Pride Waterfront Festival, our goal is to provide visibility, celebrate the culture and contributions of our community, across Oregon and SW Washington, and to raise the voices of all LGBTQ+ people across the region.
Each year, among others, we work with organizations like the AARP of Oregon, SAGE, and the Portland Gay Men’s Chorus, to broaden the visibility of the LGBTQ+ community and to educate the larger community about who we are and the issues facing our community. We partner with organizations like GLAPN (the Gay and Lesbian Archives of the Pacific Northwest) to preserve our history, and McLaren Youth Correctional Facility to build community for and with incarcerated LGBTQ+ youth. We do all of this, in order to celebrate the fullness of LGBTQ+ history and to shine our spotlight on issues facing less visible members of our community.
