Cory L. Murphy-Helmkamp – Administrator, Festival Coordinator & Web Development

Since 2009, Cory has overseen the day to day operations of Pride NW and is responsible for Pride NW’s festival operations, staff and volunteers. He currently serves as the Vice-Chair of the Sexual Minorities Round Table (SMRT) and has previously volunteered as Chair of Portland Black Pride, Basic Rights Oregon’s Standing Together committee, and is a member of the PFLAG Portland Black chapter. Cory also does part-time work for his own event management and technology firm, Iconiqs Media.

Originally from suburban Chicago, Cory moved to the Northwest in 1996 to escape the Midwest. In 2010, Cory earned an A.A.S. in Network Systems Administration from Heald College and is continuing to pursue his B.S. in History and Political Science from Portland State University, where he has served om the Student Senate, president of the board of the Smith Center Memorial Union, president of PSU NAACP, Greek Council, online editor & webmaster for the Daily Vanguard, and president of his beloved fraternity, Tau Kappa Epsilon (TKE).

Since becoming a Portlander, Cory has gained vast administrative, promotions and technical expertise from working with companies such as Egghead.com, Vancouver School District, Portland State University, ACS and Boxxes/Red Cap Garage as their infamous club promoter. When he isn’t working on Pride stuff, Cory is either being a geek online or spending time with friends or his partner, Matthew.
